French toast casserole is a cozy breakfast favorite made with soft bread baked in a rich cinnamon-vanilla custard until golden and perfectly crisp on top. Easy to prepare ahead of time, it’s the perfect warm and comforting dish for holiday mornings, weekend brunch, or feeding a hungry crowd.

Ingredients
 

  • ½ a loaf of French bread cut into cubes
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  • In a small saucepan, add the butter & brown sugar and cook until butter is melted and the brown sugar has dissolved. Add this mixture to the bottom of a 9×9 casserole dish (spread evenly)
  • In a large bowl add the bread cubes
  • In a medium bow whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour Egg mixture of top of the bread cubes. Using a large spoon mix everything together. Let it rest of 10-15 minutes
  • Pour the bread cube mixture into the baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole reaches 160 degrees and is golden brown on top.
  • Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before eating
